Plymouth County Commissioners Give Green Light to Federal Office Space Rental
March 13, 2025
PLYMOUTH, Mass. - In a unanimous decision Tuesday, the Plymouth County Commissioners approved renting office space to a federal employee for $4,000 annually.
County Administrator Frank Basler introduced the proposal during the commissioners' regular meeting. He explained that Michael Brunel from the Department of Commerce's Office of Inspector General had reached out to the county looking for a local office.
Brunel, a Plymouth resident, needed a new workspace after a recent federal policy ended remote work. Instead of facing a daily commute to Boston, he sought an office closer to home.
The commissioners agreed to a month-to-month arrangement at $333.33 per month for an upstairs office. Brunel will use his own technology and won't need county phones or printers.
Other meeting highlights:
- The county parking program reports nearly $83,000 in net revenue this fiscal year, up 40% from last year.
- Treasurer Thomas O'Brien announces Mayflower Municipal Health Group's health insurance rates will rise by 6.75% next year, less than initially expected.
- Renovations at 32 Belmont Street are ongoing, with new windows, doors, and siding. The project should wrap up in May.
- The commissioners approve plans for Indian Head Reservation Day on May 24, featuring trail hikes, kayak tours, and historic site visits.
- Upcoming meetings with state legislators and local officials are set for early April at Cask and Flagon in Marshfield.
